Event coverage on Social Media
Nowadays, offline events have their online counterpart on social media, especially on Twitter.
People attending a lecture, speech or conference are using social media to share their comments or even to literally write what they are seeing and hearing.
Potentially, every attendee becomes a journalist covering the event, broadcasting to the social networks their understanding, comments and, maybe, complains. Some other people will be following the event through social networks without being physically present at the venue.
In this context, it is better to make sure attendees are provided with fresh and accurate information. About the official event program, last minute changes, links to additional documentation on the speakers, subject of lecture … anything it could be useful to make their event experience richer and more valuable.
Let us see an example, if you take a sushi preparation course, that means you will be probably interested in take another one, as the first was not enough. Also in buying accessories like a rice boiling machine, rolling mat, chopsticks. Find new sushi restaurants, sushi to go and so on.
An event brings up – or sometimes creates – a link among the attendees. As they all share a common interest, they belong to a community, an online community, at least. Amazingly enough, anybody, not only the event organizer, may contact event community members. Their email might not be available but their twitter account will be.
